More commonly, wormwood sticks of various sizes—cigar, mini, and micro moxa—are specifically used for heating. Moxibustion is applied until a prolonged and deep heat sensation appears at the corresponding points or regions.
Wormwood cigars are very useful for heating the hand and foot areas in the standard matching system. It allows for rapid heating at many matching points. For this purpose, the tip of the wormwood cigar is firmly fixed at a distance of 1.5 to 2 cm above the skin. It can be moved up and down over the point until a deep warming sensation appears.
